Project goal : To conduct a campaign that would highlight the effects of secondhand smoke on the workers in restaurants and bars. The announcement of new regulations that created a 100 percent smoke-free Sao Paulo were presented a natural opportunity to reinforce the message that secondhand smoke harms non-smokers.

Key achievement to date:
After rigorous message testing and a
pre-campaign intercept survey, the ad was
produced with technical assistance from WLF.
The ad, which uses some adapted footage from an
Australian campaign launched in July 2009. The
Grantees generated a significant amount of
press coverage from the launch of the campaign.
Stories showing the campaign images and
discussing the issue of secondhand smoke were
prominent in local and regional media.
