WLF Team Page
A word from
our team running captains, Frank Collela and
Emmy Stocker
Now is the time to build up your base
mileage. A slow, steady - weekly -
build-up of miles to get the body ready for the
13.1 trek from Central Park down to Battery
Park is needed. The key at this stage is
building up the weekly mileage - so that base
mileage will, in turn, support the increased
distance.
Two especially useful programs that follow this technique and concentrate on base-building are the half marathon training programs developed by Hal Higdon and Bob Glover. As grueling as these training schedules may appear - never lose sight of the overriding objective - you should be having FUN. Training is tough at first, but don’t let it discourage you the payoff is at the finish - getting it done.
Please reach out to Chun-Yu Huang at chuang@worldlungfoundation.org or Stephen Hamill at shamill@worldlungfoundation.org if you need any assistance.
